Hanoi Log: day 1

One thing about the people here: they like to use their horns. And they ride a helluva lot of motorcycles. All the shoplots here are amazingly narrow, with everything crammed into a slim rectangle. Despite its initial appearance, everything is quite in order. Specific streets sell specific items, which I think makes it easy to check prices but bores the hell out of you if you are tagging along with your parents while they find silk pillow cases. That was our first destination: the silk factory. Same stuff as in China, cept its much smaller. No pictures though, as i'm using the hotel's computer in the lobby and I can't find a usb port that isn't used.

Next was lunch. The restaurant correctly defines the saying 'You can't judge a book by its cover'. From the outside, it seemed like a thin slot amongst the other shops, but when you get inside, it opens up into a big space complete with tasteful furniture and soft lighting. The food was equally good too.

After a nap, we went to the water puppet show, which was actually invented by the farmers in Vietmam. There was a pond instead of a stage, and the puppeteers used sticks to control the puppets. IMO the movements were quite aggresive, big jerks back, forth and swift swings left and right. I didn't quite understand it though as most of it was in Vietamese. But I like the part where the duck runs amok and gets eaten by a manic cat.

Left with nothing to do, as the itenary for today had ended, we walked back to the hotel. Apparently, that particular street we walked thru was selling shoes and DVDs. I hope they get to sell their enormous stock so they have a better quality of life. I've seen enough street sellers to feel like buying from them everytime I see them.

That's essentially what happened on day one. Gotta crash now.

I dunno what is Vietnam's tagline. You know, like Malaysia Truly Asia? Vietnam something something. Imma going to spend five days in Hanoi.

Under Heavy Acceleration

Darius is beat! I know its a little long to finally finish the NFS carbon game, but at least I had some fun. Muscle cars rock. All I had to do was to brake a little while using his car like a guiderail to go around the corner, and keep him back for ten seconds. The ending was a little anti climatic though. Instead of a enormous hyperspeed police chase like in Most Wanted, you get a short clip of Darius telling you to not let this sweet victory get into your head, and driving off. Plus a long line of credits.

Welcome Back!

It has been quite some time since i had delivered my words to Blogger. Let me summarize, then.

Since my last post, I had gone on a short trip to sngapore to visit my cousin and also to get the guitar he was going to lend to me. Mt uncle of course took us on a short tour around the Suntec City Mall, which has a fountain that grants your wishes. Then, at like 11 pm my uncle got to the end of his great tour and we reached my cousin's house. Over time (he's married now and has a job, so i guess it was quite a long time) he collected a reasonable array of guitars, including one mymum gave to him when she got married. Yes, Pn. Puah used to play the guitar.

I started learning the guitar too. 1st lesson only so far. A strip of pain burns a line on my fourth fingers everytime I hit the strings. Worse, I think I may be playing some notes wrong. Nevermind then, I think I will just go ask the teacher.

Two of my downloads just finished too. Better, they finished on the same day, just a couple hours between each other. Now my hard disk is beginning to get full de... more than 30 gb of games alone inside, including the disc images. I need a external hard drive. And unlike William, I will not use it to......

Anyway, there's all this hype from New Moon. Good hype from the fans of course, but mostly bad hype from critics, usually with a 4.-something rating out of ten, not five, mind you. So, I think I can safely, well, not really in the literal sense, that the Twilight Saga sucks. Except the books. I haven't read it yet, but apart from the fans, it also produces good comments from the critics. That should be happening, Twilight, New Moon fans, if you are to call those two "movies" 'EXCELLENT!' AWESOME!' and etc, etc. Sorry.

Hey, there's a Alice Cullen!

I think they are supposed to be Vampy training teachers. But they look like a joke....

If less is more, think how more 'more' will be!

Using the computer on a 40" widescreen TV is nice. Ecspecially when you play warcraft on in. Everything's so big you can't help but feel like you are in the action itself. Unfortunately, my parents took away the modem, so i couldn't get the full experience. I would like to try playing a FPS on it. Enemies far away probably wouldn't seem small now. Let rip those bullets!

Race Driver Grid stories: First 24 hour(actually, minutes in the game) race
I hate the tricky first corner. And a particular corner near the end of track. I keep spinning out. Either that, or some [ insert swear word] racer comes right up and hit me on the rear wheel. Every time. This is sabotage, i tell you. But funnily enogh, I hate the first corner more than the other one, enen though its been two time already that i spun out in the dying minutes of the event in the one near the end, after 24 minutes. Probably due to my impatience, which has caused me to restart the race six time already.

Download speed is freeking slow tonight.

Muscle driftiin'

I got a team now in Race Driver Grid, and my first car is a... Ford Mustang. Not a new one, but one hailing from the '67s. It performed quite well though, and already helped me broke a few lap records. :)

First race in the car: I basically drifted the whole course. If this was Gran Turismo my tires would have lost most of its grip by lap three and slam into a pile of tyres planted on the side of the track. I think they are meant to save the people more, but not the car. I slammed into them once and my car totaled immediately. The analyzer said I hit them at 129 km/h, with an impact of like 18 Gs.

Ouch.

I must say, racing cars at breakneck speed around the Northern Nurburging track with Cafe World on Facebook music playing in the background is quite relaxing, with a hint of adrenaline thrown into the mix. That, add the quite serene surroundings (no other cars on the track, as this was supposed to be a “tryout”) and experience is complete. Oh yeah, I just got a new graphics card. Nvidia GT220. 1GB DDR3. Plus, Batman Arkham Asylum is almost complete now. Double!

Apart from the screaming whirr that i get when i switch on the computer, a silent hum now can be heard when the PC is used. Must be from the fan, which sat between two hunk of coiled wire upon a motherboard. No pictures though, when i googled it it turned up quite different results. Guess i must have missed out on something in the name.

Oh yeah, I got a tumblah-sth now. Wanna? Don't bother reading the third post though, its a duplicate of this one.

Twhack!

I ran into trouble again in Marc Ecko's Getting Up. The CCK Silver Guards were really stepping up their game now. Luckily they are not good at countering kicks. And yet, the Secret Agents cannot handle punching, but catch your leg when you try to kick them.

I had to restart a mission about six times, and I was in quite a foul mood by then. One thing brightened me up though- getting the cck guard to get hit by a car. Heh heh. See, beside me was a road, so while the CCK was chasing me, I ran out onto the road. They gave chase and got mowed down by a lorry. Ouch.

I completed it today too! Sad to finally finish it though, I had one hell of a time playing it. Sure am gonna play it over again, getting up more tags on the walls.

Atari please make a Getting Up 2!

I don't like cinemas. Maybe its just me, but I hate the darkness, the unnecessary coldness and the popcorn. I got up from the seat today, having just watched 2012 feeling like I have been sitting down staring in front of the comp for six hours. Hands numb, body parts aching.... Plus even after the show, they wouldn't switch on even one of the lights, just the illumination behind the reels hanging on the walls.

somehow, we got back at 3, having gone to the cinema at 10. Mid Valley really far....

More about the movie on another post!

Jump!

I just remembered that i had a game for the ps2 that i had downloaded some time ago. It was Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure. Since this game is actually came out almost four years ago, I'm sure it won't get Ben Yew's thumbs up on game graphics. But the Grafitti looks good enough.

You really need to use your brain in this game, as even in the starting of the game, there's no directive on where to go. You can also jump crazy distances that a normal person would have thought impossible, unless you are a seasoned parkour-er.

Right now im stuck at a level. I don't know where to go now. But thatnks to youtube i found a vid on the mission. Finally. I died almost 4 times already.

Oh, and my corrupted NFS save file? I think i won't be needing it already. I got back my 600k! With nearly the same amount of cars to boot.

Puffeh

Since my bathroom ran out of shampoo for a few days now, my scalp was feeling ridiculously icthy.
Luckily, the shampoo was back again, so I washed my hair.

Since it was late, I used the hairdryer. which i normally wouldn't, cause it made my hair looked warped, twisted, curled and upright at the same time.

So, that's how it is now. A mess.

Then after some time i realized that it wasn't that way anymore, and more like bouncey and poofy. Hey, that's how Manny the Mammoth's fur is like, right?

Money, money, fly away, come back to me!!!

Actually, its nothing really new for me... An indian idiot hadn't yet returned my money... 13 ringgit some more leh. Say next week, didn't come instead. =.=

Jia gin's cards strayed from its usual purpose today. We used it to play Blackjack. I lose like crap... Jessica, who owned with JG yesterday also lost like crap, RM7.50 like me, i think. Lose until like that still want to hi-five me.... I go cry first then only hi-five back...

Of course we used various methods to get luck, out of which were sitting on a dustbin and "pumping" luck from a dustpan. A red dustpan, by the way. It did work, but for just a few rounds.
Bin hao joined mid game and also had good luck... Blackjack-ed two times in a row...

I just got a lobster for my food quiz in restaurant city! XD

Boiling Over

Followed the Joli-Liwen-Benjamin-Justin(not present)-Joseph band today. They are still undecided on the song they want to play due to limitations. Here's good luck to you all to get a great song, and get a great result when you guys go onstage to play.

And I will charm, I will slice,
I will dazzle them with my wit.

Having class in a Pasar Serbaneka

Class outing at 1u today, luckily about 12 people came. FAILIURE IS BEHIND US NOW... RISE AGAINST THE DARK SIDE.... Okay, that was really random...

which I think accurately describe our class outing; random. Jess, calyn me and william waited until 12. Only then all who could come came. We originally walked to pizza hut to eat lunch, but then it changed to the girls shopping and the boys shopping for food. As there was too little pizza vouchers, we ate at Carl's Jr, which was more expensive and too much with a disgusting stale smell despite the certificate for 'premis bersih' on their wall. Bersih tetapi berbau.

All of the boys were stuffed as we had downed burgers as big as our hand. Plus some fries and coke.
The girls cut one up like a birthday cake. 'StaySlim' regulations?

After that we heaved our bellies over to what was supposed to be the arcade. Instead we went into an accesories shop and kacau-ed the employees there by trying on their things. Jiagin had a stupid expression on. That probably led to the salesperson calling security. The girls had to get us out.

Then we played hide and seek in MPH. Yes, the bookstore. Surprisingly fun, but childish. after hunting we went to Quicksilver to listen to music. The girls were Lady Gaga fans. We also went to see a mime at a HP convention. I threw a uneaten fry across the hanging spaship model(battleship galactica was beside us) We also saw a halloween song-and-dance performance. Comments: Timing needs to be improved. Bigger stage needed.

We didn't go to the arcade at last, and went straight to watch The Time Travellers Wife. Good movie, something which was needed for quite some time now. Unfortunately everybody had to go bakc straightaway after that. Calyn and Julyn for some reason got affected by a time vortex and walked fast while the rest of us walked along with a tortoise that told us stories of his wonderful adventures walking from the Amazon to Malaysia to Tim's display picture.

Me, Binhao, chen hoe were eventually the only ones left. We bought a drink from the new coke vending machine and marvelled at how it vended the drink: Some mechanic brace moves up, the bottle is pushed down onto the brace and slides down to the opening at around hip-level. We were all "Wah so cool!". My drink came out with charged-up gas though.i love ice cream soda.

Pictures coming up, stay tuned!

Soil flying

Everybody seen the clumps of soil on the school grounds? Unlike some intelligent people, I still don't have a clue on why the clumps are appearing.

One theory is: Najib has ordered a secret bunker to protect himself from a possible riot against Barisan Nasional predicted by Intelligence. There is some evidence of this: the entry's through the drain. Don't tell :) ISA may want to pick you up.

Second, Aliens have finally reached earth. They mind controlled some peolple to put the clumps of soil there as reference to enter the universe. Apparently they hijacked the school's wi-fi network. It hasn't been active lately, no?

Third, datin has finally run out of things to waste money on. Making a imitation of the Mecca seems to be her newest bright idea. This way, she can convert the school into a mosque. By doing that, she helps the malay teachers to get their Hajah status in their name. Also, she gets to rid of us Chinese and indians out of her 1Malay school.

Class outing tomorrow. Wish it was sunway. haha :D

Gambling with oxygen

I think playing cards without money doesn't count as gambling. But of course the ministry of education does. Siva, flying black and white colours, caught us 'gambling'. We had to stand outside the bilik guru. Jiagin looked at flowers. I tried to stone a tortoise gently. William objected to our plan of ponteng-ing, not coming the next day and the next next day because siva will forget about us by then. He rather sit down and stare at the blue sky and listen to construction noises.

Then siva told us to go back to class and find Eric. Apparently bola baling was supposed to have reached the semi finals only. Then we keyed in percubaan marks for angsana and balau. Nearly gave gwen taine all zeroes.

We helped Jess with her stock check. Chen hoe and william came mostly for air cond though. There were quite a few interesting books that i never knew existed XD There was even a book from Elle teaching how to stay "fit and beautiful!" Surprised it wasn't deemed haram by Datin. Turns out she doesn't come to the library...

Well, signing off.

-william i wanna your fried rice!

Money hopping away

I just got a chicken for my restaurant in facebook. I didn't want to get it. My finger slipped and i let go of the mouse button. And at that time i was looking at the chicken hop around the front of my restaurant. 1300 coins gone. Stupid chicken.

Better lay some eggs for me.

'Cuda.

That's the name of a '70 muscle car, a car with performance and looks every bit as cool as the name itself. Even Lamborghins could just barely match the name. Between saying "Gay-ar-do" and just "'Cuda", in my opinion, the latter definately is better. Shorter too. I was thinking of drawing one, and thinking how to make it look better. After just 10 minutes of thinking, I concluded that not one thing needs to be changed. It's beautiful and muscley just as it is.

Speaking of cars, Takumi's AE86 is back! In FT-86 form. below is the car itself.

Already people has started "modifying' it. One example is below, with Work wheels

After much drawing and sculpting, more drawing and more sculpting, Lexus has finally given the green light for its LF-A. I've seen the ad, and I think it sounds like their F1 car.

Quite good, in my opinion.

Anyway, today the RIMUP event was held in the dewan. Jia gin and me were like "I dun wanna go...." but it turned out to be okay. Datin started the speeches while me and ben yew were in the middle row being racist. Datin spoke for 14 minutes, much, much longer than the chinese headmaster. Next were the performances. Students from which school i dunno drummed on tong sampahs, a paint can and a water container for a unique piece. Next was a indian/malay(couldn't identify) dance by 4 girls from another school. Quite synchronized. Then came this malay dance and finally an all-indian performance with humping included. There was also a singing performance with some really great vocals. Damned talented. Then it was DJ's turn. Blue shirt piano guy started with a good piano piece. KarMay and Josephine then took the stage for a excellent duet. Kelvin continued the streak with Robbie William's Better Man. Then Thevindran went on and sang some classic malay songs. I don't like them. Plus his stupid afro wig and sunglasses. Ugh.

Next, in a really shortened version, we sat at tables, answered some questions, ate and rearranged the tables.

We went back to class, and found out that jg's cards had been confisicated. Discussing on where to go on this saturday got ourselves a red card from Pn.Joyce.... twice. Too loud.

Now I'm playing Death Vegas again. Unlike the last time I played it, its not laggy anymore (rejoice!) Fun!

-Now whacking more cartoon characters, zhi chung

Busting legs

On tuesday me, joli, TJ and liwen finally went and got justin his overdue b'day present. We met up at the GSC. The first thing we did was to not get justin a present. We watched Surrogates. Although it was a 3 to 1 decision to watch Meatballs, Liwen bribed us with the promise of a clear disc of Meatballs and bought tickets to Surrogates. The movie was quite confusing. I think watching food falling out of the sky would be better.

Surrogates had some funny parts though. All of them have one thing in common- humanlike robots being treated as dolls. Actually, they are already dolls. WTV lah. Anyway, we laughed when the robots got hit and piled upon a car, and when they were deactivated and just flopped onto the ground.

since it was already one, we went to search for lunch. Suggestions were: (not necessarily in order) Ajisen, Carls Jr, A&W, Burger King, Mcdonald's, Carls Jr, Burger King, Mcdonald's, KFC and finally Mcdonalds. we walked to aalmost all of those places back and forth again and again. Blame our indecisiveness XD

Finally, Justin's present! Suggestions!
-Converse shoes
-a piggy bank that says "I LOVE MONEY" on it
-Some toy that looks like and FEELS like bread/ pastry ( make me hungry again)
-the Domo soft toy which Liwen got for her "evil"(quote) sister
-Shirt
-Pants
-Slippers
-socks
-underwear(justin's probably glad we changed our minds)
-golf club
-football
-Nike bag

We went with the nike bag.
Then me and tj tagged along with the girls who went window shopping.
FITNESS REGULATIONS FOR WINDOW SHOPPING
-stamina(?)
-patience
-strong will
-proper set of mind
-5 hours of meditation
-more meditation
-Tai chi
-finally, more patience.

TV Screeeeam!

Ode to the crazy indian who sang billie jean at the Malaysian Idol audition. Sing until got ice cream come out.

New TV screen in the house! A spontaneous buy on my father's part, but i think it wasn't necessary as the old TV was still working. Still, 42 inches of ... er...Light Emitting Diodes? Cathode Ray Tubes? Plasma? Dunno which one is it. But it's BIG. And kind of out of place.

I'm gonna be waiting to play a race and a movie on it!

Study til' your eyes pop out!

More like party, though. Today we had a study group at Dan's, with Bin hao, Jia gin, Karmay and Shu wen. Other than Bin Hao and Jia Gin's constant stream of conversation, We were getting along well, until the two had to use the computer. Which reminded me of my restaurant in restaurant city.

Before we knew it, everyone was in Daniel's room. Karmay was doing food quizzes which had accumulated in my mailbox. JiaGin played O2 Jam reeeaaaaaallly fast. And that was only level 20+. Universal response: Jian zhi shi chuan wo men.

I'm quite blur on the details, but I think we lunched first. KFC's advetorial monitors had to restart twice after it hanged. (Those things can hang?) Windows XP startup screen and music for the restaurant. We walked through an alley on the way back. JiaGin did the MJ crotch-grab in front of a plant.

Then, we watched Micheal Jackson's concert in Bucarest lights off. Some of us studied in the dark. Five fans fainted in the concert.

Then followed some frantic studying before we went back. The guys had some fun with jiagin's MSN, until he signed in. Whoops.

Hope i can finish all subjects in time for pmr. Then have fun after pmr! Yay!

The Hindu Preception of Chakra Flow

According to them, subtle energy flows in from your chakra crown(head) and negative energy exits from your feet. So, when we wear shoes, it sort of goes into the shoes, I think. So, Putting shoes and shoe racks in the doorway or some other direction is inauspicious. Giving shoes to people is bad too as it will strain the relationship of both sides. However, losing your shoes is a good thing. Bad chakra go away -.-

Dreams about shoes count too. Good expensive shoes of course means that you are going to stand tall with successful people. Worn shoes mean its going to be a rough journey ahead.

And oh yeah, don't hit people or their photographs with shoes. Remember the Iraqi shoe thrower got jailed?

Did someone shoot me? Really?

"Wah damn stupid lah kor this game, everyone take TRG"

Three months my brother has been complaining about how gay TRGs are in Sudden Attack matches, and I still don't know what a TRG is. I know its a gun, but details count, eh?

Still not feeling the urgency to study. Baaaaad... My restaurant city employees are dying too. At least I get to earn a little money by picking up the trash.

I wanna get online more! My noob Restaurant!

Go!

We are Fighting Dreamers Takami wo mezashite
Fighting Dreamers Narifuri kamawazu
Fighting Dreamers Shinjiru ga mama ni
Oli Oli Oli Oh-! Just go my way!

That's the 4th opening song for Naruto, which my bro is now listening to. Its quite enthusiastic and i bet i will make you smile. Unless, of course, you are narrow minded and hate Japanese products.

Our class recieved our positions, and i made it to 25th. I still complain that it can be higher if it wasn't for wu liao chinse. 57 marks only! Mahai! I freaking studied.

Thanks Bin Hao for playing my maple character to the sec. job advancement, really appreciate it man.

2-2

Basketball today, except it was at 8:30, majority of the people FFK'ed so it was me, dan, shiwen and stanley, and that there were some people hogging the court. So, we watched Daniel goring out his screen with the Prototype antics and later goring himself up with his nose bleed. You should go become an actor, man, serious. And the studio wold save costs too, because there's no need for fake blood! Ahaha..... sorry.

I seriously need to get back on the excercise regime. Halfway through the match i was already getting short of breath, and by the time the match was over i was dying for water. I'm gonna take my bike and ride to Mars from this day onwards.

I come in peace.

Welcome! Huan Ying Guang Ling! Selamat Datang! Niaa Kapurange...

I preferred my old blog's link, since its much simpler, and have actually been thinking about it for some time now. And I have been missing the header picture feature, which blogger unceremoniously removed from my old blog=( Maybe because of the hammering i gave last time? Okay okay, SORRY.YOU GUYS ARE GREAAT.

I am better than ben yew! so is Stanley! In Yer Face! Wakakaka! (In the spontaniety of Jia Gin, should have seen him when he heard that, friggin funny)
